So I have been having this weird issue with cleaning my windshield. (I know this sounds weird and or just...yeah) Anyways, the past month in the rain it's been brutal. So i cleaned it with Windex and then rainx. But the issues is still the same..can't see a thing out of it during rain..it just pools and doesn't beed. I re applied twice now and nothing.

Some spots of the windshield are fine..but the part i need to see out of...yeah it's BAD in the night. Not sure what else to do. I clean it and clean it then rainx...but nothing.

When the 2011 Owner's Manual first came out it specifically mentioned not to use products like Rain-X. That has since been dropped. Have you cleaned or replaced the wiper blades? Are you using the wipers when you say "it just pools and doesn't bead"?

Yeah I am using the wipers. But even if I don't...the water that falls just seems to "stick" there and not move at all unlike the left spot where it will bead

Maybe i'll try new blades then

You can try giving them a good cleaning first to see if it makes a difference. If they have never been replaced it won't hurt to get new ones.

Wash the windshield very well and clay bar it just like you would painted panels. Then apply the rain-x.

Never thought of this..thanks

I regularly clean my windshields with 0000 (that's four 0's) steel wool and glass cleaning liquid. Cleans the small grit, doesn't seem to harm the glass (been doing it for some time now).

If I remember right, my buddy had a car that didn’t react to the rain-x either, so it could just be the windshield. Have you ever used it on that windshield before and how were the results?

Dumb questions, but are you sure the rain-x bottle contains rain-x and are you applying it properly?
When I do it, I spray it into a rag and wipe down the full windshield. The reason for spraying on the rag is just to prevent overspray. I wait a few minutes and then do it again. Wait a few more minutes and then buff out with a different damp rag/towel.

If you do clean with the clay bar, make sure the bar clean. I did it one time with my old car and got a few small scratches from the grit that was in the clay, and yes, I did kneed it correctly, but it was one I used on the windshield after doing the car.

One other thought is to clean the windshield with Dawn dish soap. Dawn is good as stripping wax from paint, so it might strip other stuff that might be preventing the rain-x from adhering to the glass. Maybe do the 0000 steel wool like rmcalis said and use Dawn in some water as your cleaning liquid.
