On my 2000 xls, the high beams don't work with the lever forward. If I pull the lever to the rear for the flash feature, the high beams work. The daytime running lights started flickering about the same time that the high beams acted up and have been flickering ever since. The voltmeter reads normal and there's no other indication of voltage loss. I would like to just eliminate the DRL's if I can.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

This appears to be your problem

I performed the fix today. The whole process took me about 20 minutes. I would have had it done it 5 minutes, but the steering wheel tilt lever took forever to get off and i messed it up using pliers taped up to take it off (crushed the "ridges" on the lever). After shipping from fordpartsnetwork.com, it was about $52. The wire harnesses that you have to take out are a little tricky to get, but once you pry the first one out, the second should come out pretty quickly.

The install is a cinch...three screws from under the steering column, unscrew the tilt lever, seperate the two pieces of steering column (little tricky), unscrew the two torx (torx size 15) screws, unplug the harnesses, plugin the harnesses into the new unit, screw it back in, put the column casing back on, screws from underneath, and the tilt lever...DONE!
