There has been a strange noise thats been coming from my explorer lately. It can sound like a "whooop" almost like the start of a police siren, or like a dry wiper blade against a window. It always sounds like it is coming from behind me. It happens about every 5 minutes on average. The only thing I can think of is I know there is some A/C components in the storage area in the back for the rear air. Any ideas?

I did some research and I found this this post for a TSB. Could this be the problem?

I just read the TSB here's the URL link:

Here's the text from the post:
There is a TSB "Technical Service Bulletin" on rear wheel bearings being noisy on that model. If it is still under warranty, then get to your dealer!

TSB info...................

FORD: 2002-2005 Explorer
LINCOLN: 2003-2005 Aviator
MERCURY: 2002-2005 Mountaineer

This article supersedes TSB 05-17-10 to update the Service Procedure.

ISSUE:
Some 2002-2005 Explorer 4dr/Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Aviator vehicles may exhibit a noise from the rear wheel hub bearings. Previous service procedures required service replacement of the wheel hub bearing assembly, base part (1109). This new service procedure allows replacement at a lower service level of the wheel bearing, base part (1215) to repair the noise condition.

ACTION:
Replace the rear hub bearing and wheel bearing retainer ring

This thread hasn't had a post in almost 6 years. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a reply. :D:thumbsup:

I guess by now it is safe to say it is out of warranty.
