The engine on my 02 st sputters and nearly dies for few seconds then runs rough then back to normal some times, this doesn't last long maybe 4-6 seconds almost always happens at the same area at the same speed on the way home from work. Doesn't happen very often maybe once or twice a month have any of you guys had the same problem and if so what is the fix the dealer doesn't have a clue.

Just a thought, when was the last time you had an oil change?

Is you check engine light on? If so have you pulled the codes? Maybe a good tuneup maybe helpful. Any vacuum leaks?

Thats an impressive list of mods there Chris. :D

I have the oil changed every 3k miles and the check engine lite doesn't come on. The dealer where i bought the truck would try to replicated the problem but had no luck. They also changed multiple parts during the 6-7 years that i have been taking it to them.

does it happen when you press on the gas? say to the floor? if so you need to clean/ replace your MAF (mass air flow sensor) its the only thing attached to the air filter. Spraying it with electric parts cleaner usually does the trick, just be careful its about as fragile as a light bulb element.

haha yeah man, that gas cap alone adds like what? 5-8 horsepower, or something like that. Rest assured i have greater plans for it (tires, lift, exhaust)

Well, I look forward to you posting about your future mods then!

only does it cruising at 65-70 mph, I think that was one of the parts the dealer replaced when i was trying to get it fixed several years ago.

drive home a different way and see what happens.:roll::p:

:DYeah I could try that or maybe just never leave the house.

My 04 ex is doing about the same thing.
On my way home from work (30 miles) about 3 times a month in the same location after going up a slight grade then releasing the pedal it dies. Only thing I will add is there is a cell tower right beside the road (75 feet away). It always restarts. I have an after market volt meter (escort 9500ix) and it shows 14.0. I always drive it easy and when it dies my foot is off the pedal going around 25-30 mph. Only dies in this one spot. What could the cell tower be interferring with?
