Hello all, its been a while since ive posted here on the boards, However i wonder if anyone can help my odd problem.

I have a kinda hi power audio system in my 1992 Explorer Sport and up to about 2 years ago this strange ticking sound started though all the speakers and my 2 subs. It only ticks when the car is running and it ticks faster when i start to accelerate after a certain speed it seems to disapear. Ive baffled the installers and even my auto mechanic. So far ive replaced the spark plugs and plug wires. No luck. It kind comes and goes when it pleases.

Does anyone else have this problem or know what the cause can be? I know its not the radio, ive been though 3 differnt head units, tried different wiring.. im at a loss.

here is what i have..

Kenwood CD/MP3 Headunit with Sirus Satelitte radio
2 JBL GT200 4 channel amps
JBL Componets in the doors and 6x8's in the rear back panels
MTX cross over
Street wires Cap
12 inch JBL Subs

Dead Link Removed

thanks in advance.

Could be alternator noise. They make filters for them that go in-line on power cables.

How close are your power cord and RCA cables?

The RCA cables run down the left side, the power cables and fuse blocks are on the right side. There is space between them.

Ive moved the Capictor all around with no luck. Ive tried the "Radio Shack" noise filters on the RCA cables for noise reduction those didnt work either.

Have you tried running new speaker wires?

Running new speaker wires i havent done. Im not daring enuff to start ripping interior panels off to get to the hidden speakers. I was going to get my installers to do it. However there lies a different story.

But I didnt think the Speaker Wires would have anything do with that, since it sounds like its something engine related the ticking only appears when the Explorer is running.
