One of my axles, the passenger side, is a little wobbley and I would like to either have it straightened or buy some hardened ones. Does anyone know prices for hardened axles or where I can get them?

Hi BigEd,
The only place I can think of right off hand would be Curry Interprises. I think they have a web site but don't know for sure. They usually have a ad in the truck mags. Hope this helps.

I bought a set of Dutchman axles, $300 I think. Also try Superior Axle and Gear or Moser Engineering or Yukon.

Cheers

How about Strange Axles

Strange has been around for a long time.
Did your Explorer come with 31 spline axles ?
If not then what about the differential ?

Good Luck on your choise.

Moser has alloy shafts available, they are about 40% stronger than stock and run about 300 for a pair plus shipping. Hope that helps.

Yep, my rear end has 31 spline axles in it with 4.10 gears. I'd like to buy new axles and have my bent one straightened to use as a spare. Thanks for the input!

Just an FYI, I found some Strange axles with a "c-clip eliminator kit" for $375 at the web site below. Seems like a pretty good. But since it is about at much as a detroit locker, I'm going to have to go with a locker and break a few stock axles, then get the Stranges!

Hey Ed,
Let us know how long it takes you to break them and what you were doing when they broke. I'm sort of curious to know just how long the stock axle will last under heavy conditions. I know some guys that do some pretty hard crawling and the axle is still going strong.
