It's been just over 1000 miles since we got our ST back from having a few TSBs addressed. One thing I have loved about the ST since I first took it for a test drive was how well the transmission shifted, and how well it choose the proper gear for any situation. I had hoped that the issues I have experienced with the transmisision would have fixed itself through adapative learning over the past 1000 miles. Unfortunately it has not changed for the better.

What I experience now are much softer shifts in the lower gears, and most importantly, it shifts too soon all the time. Coming off a stoplight at part throttle, slowing for a turn and then accelerating out of the turn, in both situations the transmission jumps to a higher gear too quickly making acceleration seem sluggish unless I give it a bunch more throttle.

I assume this was caused by a reflash of the computer while the ST was in for work. I sure wish I could get it back to the way it was. It is a significant change which I am not happy with. Can't Ford leave what works well alone? IMO they ruined the FordPass app which was perfectly fine in V4. V5 is awful. They keep taking features off of their new models, and are neutering models which have been on the road for years through their updates. Not a happy customer right now.

Sport mode should fix your complaint. Normal mode and eco love getting in the highest gear possible, so when you want a little juice it takes a second for it to drop into the right low gear. Why I always like Sport mode. Usually transmission reprogramming is better, especially on the F150s 10r80s, so it’s unfortunate this update was a downgrade.

I know that Sport mode changes the shifting. All I want is for this ST to shift the way it did in standard mode before I dropped it off for the TSBs to be fixed. The transmission wasn't an issue, and none of the TSBs were for the transmission.

I'm just curious, have you spoken to the dealership and shared this concern with them? If so, what was their response?

Ford does not listen to customers and their earnings reflect problems. Very poor management.
Soon enough they will be charging a subscription to roll the windows up and down.

Not yet. I have been giving it a chance to retrain the transmission hoping things would improve. With just over 1000 miles since the service I don't think it's going to get any better. I will be contacting the service dept.

Which TSB did they perform? Mine was reflashed and the shifting is fantastic now. My paperwork is home and won't be back till Sunday to see the TSB number.

Two steps forward and one back...isn't that the rhythm and rhyme of life?
