If my tcase is stuck in 4hi and I convert from the stock autohubs to some warn manual hubs, could i just unlock the manual hubs to have 2wd? seams easier than a tcase swap. (i have tried all the tricks, it wont disengage. I am currently driving around without a front driveshaft. thanks.

Please stop posting the same thread over and over. One is enough :)

EDIT: To answer your question, you do not have hubs, they can't be changed 95+ all have a live front end, no hubs. To fix the t case is the only solution short of driving around with no driveshaft.

Whoa, my computer locked up and somehow my posts showed up after I thought I had not posted them. Could a Mod please delete the other two threads that are similar to this one that just got posted. Sorry about that.

Sorry MG, didnt mean too!

Ah my neighbor who lives in Potomac -- where the Rich people dwell in their tonnage of greenery ($$) :D

Just disconnect the transfer case connectors, that should disable 4wd - unless the 4wd enagement is a mechanical problem.

But how doeseth one know that the 4wd is stuck?
Is there binding whilst one doeseth attempt to make ye turn into ye mansion? :D

where is potomac? i lived in pax river for a few years in my early navy days. kinda miss maryland....

Potomac is basically the area above the Potomac River just before Washington D.C. If you think of 495 (the Beltway of DC) as a clock, Potomac would be around the 10 o'clock position -- around where 270 meets 495.

Haha IZ, its "North Potomac" not Potomac, lol. Big difference. I am basiscally at the edge of Gaithersburg near Quince Orchard HS, off Rt 28. Although there are $5M houses about 5 minutes from me. Although if i lived in one of those, I probably wouldnt be driving a 97 explorer!

Indeed, first, unplug the t-case connector and take it for a drive. That'll tell us if it's a mechanical problem with the t-case, or an electrical gremlin in the Control Trac system.

Already did that. My brown wire mod switch stopped working too, so I dont think its electrical. I think it is mechanically stuck in 4hi. Thanks.

Well in that case, time to pull the t-case. look on www.car-part.com for the specific model you have in yours. Odds are someone's got an identical unit that'll plug and play.

There's no way to mechanically separate the system at the hubs. You could pull the front driveshaft (which you'll need to do anyways if you're replacing the case) until you can get the new one.

Since performing the BWM, have you done any tire-roasting burnouts or dyno runs?

Just curious...

No, no burnouts or anything like that. Just regular driving and a few mild offroad trips. The front driveshaft is currently out so that I can get around without all the groaning and lurching it does in 4wd. Thanks again. i will keep an eye out for a new tcase.
