- 2002 XLT 4-Door
After installing a new amplifier and subwoofer, my 2002 4 Door XLT has been confused.
At first the car would flash the High 4x4 light. After a day, the Low 4x4 light is constantly on and sometimes flashes. When starting the car, I can move the gear shift out of park but the car doesn't move and I don't hear anything move under the car. After about 2-5 minutes, the car comes to its senses and I can drive around but only with Low 4x4, might as well not be driving it.
After driving around a bit and putting it in park, the cycle begins and the car won't shift out of park for a few minutes.
I disconnected the battery for an hour so that the computer would reset and it worked! ... For 2 minutes. After driving one block the car went back into Low 4x4 and the cycle continued.
What is causing this? Is this something I can fix myself at home or should I bring it to a mechanic?
Thank you,
Ansy
Update:
While I caught the car in the point in the cycle where I could drive, I put it in neutral and put it in 4x4 high, then automatic. Been driving for the last 30 minutes and everything is peachy fine!
