Does anyone else wonder what was the significance in making one cup holder smaller than the other honestly its so annoying when me and someone else have drinks and he cant fit his cup all the way in the holder but i can.

LOL I somewhat agree w/ u!

But the smaller cup holder comes in handy when I am drinking water (water bottles are much smaller compared to soda bottles)

It provides the fit for the factory optional ashtray.

I was wondering why they did that. The ashtray makes sense.

If it wouldn't make it look like crap I would probably sand it down lol

This along with all the other stupid designs on these trucks........trying to get to the blend door that fails so often.....trying to check the tranny fluid or adding....come on Ford.....

All designed so u have to take it back to the dealership to get repairs done ;)

This design was probably thought of by the same engineers that states that the rear differential oil is lifetime never has to be changed....yes it says lifetime in the manual, althoughit fits my coffee mug real good, if i have a regular styrofoam cup it there there ends up being more in the tissue holder than in the cup. I gotta clean it at least twice a week

both my cupholders are the same size?

I think it has to do with what kind of center console you have if im not mistaken there are two types

i'll take a picture of it tommorrow probably showing the differences

One ring is further up the cup holder than the other which makes it unable to fit larger cups in one then the other

.

I read somewhere a statistic saying that for some 80% of the lifetime of a car there is only one person in the car - the driver.

This is certainly true for me and I appreciate the fact that the two cup holders are different sizes, as they will accomodate a larger variety of cups. I sometimes bring my coffee from home in different sized mugs and I have a better chance of not spilling the coffee if I can fit the mug snuggly in either one of the cup holders.
