Stupid Me, now I gotta pay for it...

bondo is usually ok in the cold, its rapid temp. change that plays hell with it. and also, dont slam the hatch any more. the trick you suggested (hartman) works ok on non-door type stuff, but can eventually crack on doors, tailgates, etc. from the stresses of shuting them.

That seems like a lot of damage for just backing into another vehicle. Did you have it floored and ram your mom's Xterra when you did this?

WOW!!! I did not think the Explorer was that soft. I figured it was stronger than that.

it is extremely soft, especially when you hit the back handle. my wife was not even on the gas, just letting it idle backward when she hit my bronco. my damage was almost as bad as defiant's. just about ANY vehicle made from the early 80's on is skinned with aluminum-foil.:p

I was going kind of fast in reverse so that attributed to the damage, plus considering the liftgate isn't designed to take the bulk of the hit like it did compared to my mom's rear bumper.

Ok, that explains it.

By the way, did the Xterra have a Klingon cloaking device the reason you didn't see it? :D

I was looking at my little sister making sure she was out of the way and completely forgot about the xterra there. Also, I won't get my X back til around monday/tuesday, but I had my dad ask the guy to hold onto the busted tail light and not throw it away. Hopefully he remembers.
