Hello all~
I have a 1994 explorer XL, 4X2 5 speed manual. 140,000 wonderful (ha) miles on it. I've been through this piece and through it repairing crap and still come up with more problems than I started with. Anywhoo it's runnin great now but it has a bad pull to the right.
I have been told by several shops that the rear end is bend by about 1/4 a degree, which is fine by me which will allow for a small pull, but here is the kicker. When I hit the brakes, the front end dips to the right and she really pulls hard to the right. A little bit of offness in the rear frame cannot cause this. A shop by me told me before my front right side is sagging by 1" more than the left. Would I need a set of coil springs on the front to correct this? Here is what I have done: (sigh)
New calipers both sides, new rotors and pads, bearings, new ball joints, new outer tie rod ends, new radius arm bushings, new shocks... I'm sick of tracing this pulling problem but as each day I drive it goes by it gets worse. Anyone with any ideas let me know, thanks!

Hey also to add, JC whitney sells "coil spring helpers" for about $6, and I want to know if these actually work... because if they do I'll just buy those because I don't feel like droppin another few hundred into springs.

check your axel pivet bushings...slack will allow a shift and pulling if they are trashed...if yours still had the tib front....

tib front? What is that? I had a look at those pivet bushings and they do not appear to have any play. how about the sway bar on the front? does that have an effect on left or right pull? The left side is solid and the right side one of the bushings has a large amount of play in it (it jiggles). this is a pain!!!! ::sigh::

TIB = Twin I-Beam front suspension (used exclusively by Ford on 2wd small and full size trucks made in the 80's and 90's)

TTB = Twin Traction Beam front suspension (used exclusively by Ford on 4wd small and full size trucks made in the 80's and 90's)

The messed up sway bar bushing could definately be part of the problem. The sway bar is the main component that keeps one side of the suspension from compressing signigicantly more than the other side.

Your coil springs could be worn out as well, if the sway bar bushing doesn't help, I'd pick up a set of coil springs from the junk yard. New they are only about 60 bucks a piece if I remember right, junkyard would be significantly cheaper.

Hope some of this helps.
