No, preout voltage is matched with gains on the amp to get a clear signal. The higher the voltage on the preouts, theoretically the clearer the signal. Wether it works or not... I have no idea..
having used several decks, i have found that higher preouts do help clarify the signal and some would say that getting a 4+ volt preout will help the signal so much that you could have about the same diff as adding an extra 50w....i dont remember where i read that but i read it somewhere.
now, i have never had a competition system or anything, but i have always had a system and i really have noticed a diference with higher voltage preouts.
