I am thinking about getting some audiobahn grilles off of cardomain.com for the infinity kappas I am getting in a week or so. Only thing is, I am not sure I will have enough room to put them on (I am building a stealthbox for where the cargo space in the trunk is, and I am not sure there will be room.

So my question is has anyone ever used those grills before, and if so, how deep is the "lip" on the grilles that holds the screw holes where the things are installed.

If you have not used those specific grills, then if you have installed any before, how deep are the lips around them usually?

Also, if you have any hints on how you think I could overcome this problem, I would appreciate it. The deal is where the hole in the trim is there is only 10" of space. I am already having to make a mounting ring for the sub to fit in the closed area, but without cutting into the trim I don't have more than 1/3 of an inch on all sides around where the ring will be, if that much. The only thing I can think of do do about this is make a ring of 1/4 inch wood to get some room between the box and the trim, and then put a ring that has like a 1" or more lip on top of that. But that would look super ugly. I will get to brainstorming, peace.

I have a cheap & plain black grill on mine, just a simple one I ordered from sounddomain when I got my sub & amp. The grill fits very snugly on the woofer, and it fits pretty much flush with it too, so it is only like 1/16" thick. The "lip" I think you are asking about is just as deep as the woofer's outer mounting ring...I hope that makes sense!!
I usually leave mine off unless I have cargo in the back because during hard & heavy bass excursions the subwoofer surround extends far enought that it rattles the grill!!!
