My Michelin Cross Terrains are just about at the end of their life. I've had them for 6+ years and have been very happy. Surprisingly they don't make the P235/75R15 size anymore. and my 2nd choice was the LTX M/S, but they only make it in 108S rating, which from experience has a harsher ride.
Any other suggestions?

I am very happy with the BFG All Terrains, i am running with. Should be the P235/75R15's as well.

I am very happy with my BFG Long Trail's. It will probably depend upon what you use the truck for and what conditions you drive in.

I looked up the BFG AT's on Tirerack, and it seems it got good reviews, but for some reason the load rating for that size is 104/101S. Not sure why it has a dual rating, but I know mine has 105S.
I also looked at the BFG Long trail T/A Tour, but for that size they have 108S rating.

I've had Kumho KL78 A/Ts on several vehicles and I have nothing but good things to say about them. They wear forever and they've never let me down in heavy rain or snow. For an A/T, they do a decent job in mud too.

I drive mostly on the highway, no -off roading, and living in NY metro area, get to see some snow every winter. So I was looking more of a less aggressive tire. I came across the General Grabber HTS:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...&load_rating=F&load_rating=G&minSpeedRating=S

They seem to get good reviews, price is decent at $88 plus Tirerack is having a special, buy 4 and they'll give you a $50 gift card. So to ship these tires to my door would be $345.

I loved the Longtrails T/As that I had on my '96, but now they have been replaced by the Longtrail Touring which is a much softer ride, made for the majority who drive only on the highway. Not as good in snow but then if you don't get a lot of it you should be fine with them.

I have the T/A's. Not the Touring. Good to know :)

anything but the origonal firestones

i had the ltx m/s's before and they run nice and smooth.. quiet too.. i switched to bfg t/a's then moved from virginia to california.. va had smooth roads and nicer layouts which ment slight noise level increase within the 40mph under spectrum, california freeways and streets on the other hand rattles my brain out with my bfg's :( the only places ive been that are smooth so far are the mid OC area and a 10 mile radius to where i currently live..

i might end up getting a coilover conversion if it will significantly soften the ride quality.. all in all, if you are not going to go off road then stick with all-season tires..

If you liked the Cross Terrains, I'd go with the LTX M/S's. They'll perform just as well. Mine were just 60 miles short of 100,000 miles when I took them off a year and a half ago (and they had about 10,000 miles of life left before they hit the wear bars, but winter was rapidly approaching). They were installed in May of '02 as free Firestone replacements, and came off in December of '07 with 99,940 miles on them.

At that point, I wanted something a little more agressive... I chose the newer Michelin LTX AT2's. So far, in the last 18 months, I've been thrilled. They do a little better than the LTX's in the deep snow (as I would expect, given the slightly more agressive tread) and seem to be holding up exceptionally well. Surprisingly they're a little bit quieter than the LTX's were despite the more agressive tread. I've been quite happy with them so far. :)

Tires

Last October I replaced the worn down Bridgestones that were on my 97 Mounty when I bought it with P235/75R15 Avon Ranger tires. These aren't a well known brand here in the states, but they've been making tires in the UK for over a hundred years. Matter of fact, they manufacture Mickey Thompson tires under contract.

The Rangers were $88 each at Tire Rack (do all of us buy our tires there?). I got about 12K miles on them thus far and they still look like new. They are quiet, ride and wear great and handle flawlessly in dry weather, rain and the 3-6 inches of snow we get at a time here in NJ.

Good enough for Rolls-Royce, Morgan and Aston Martin.

If your looking to save some $$ try checking out treadwright.com I've been plugging them every chance I get because I have seen amazing things from them. They are retreads yes, but just as good as any tire on the road. I have friends who have made 100k miles on their tires with no complaints. You can pick your tire carcass and tread pattern. I've priced their BFG AT's at $62 each, and $130 at tire shops.

Love the BFG Long Trail Touring ... Increased load capacity... higher PSI rating... 60,000 miles... quiet ride, and M/S. Can't complain. Bought 4 installed... less than $525 out the door.

I have the LTX M/S on my 97 4x4. Have about 10k on them and they still look brand new. Excellent tire!! Much better wear then the Dueller Revo's I had on it before.

I am running Bridgestone Duler APT III on both my '03 Sport Trac XLT and '98 Explorer Sport. However they are P255/65r16 for the Sport Trac and P255/65r15 on the Sport. I occasionally go to the snow as well as drive in the city. I have had great traction as well as great wear with these tires and will NEVER buy anything else.

I highly recommend them.
