I am looking to get a bit more out of my stock 91 xl. Friend of mine had some work done on his 93 and the replaced his cat. with a straight pipe and he has notice more power and better fuel milage. I am thinking of doing this also. How about a high flow air intake? I am a newbie so bare with me. I am looking for suggestions. thanks

I have the Flowmaster Force II and a KKM intake on my 92 XLT and it seems to run a bit stronger. Could'nt give you exact power differances without a before and after result on a couple dyno pulls though. Be careful if you have state(or providence) mandated emmisions inspections, the cat has to be on the vehicle. They would shoot me on the spot at inspection in our state if I showed up with no cat on the truck. Beware of going really nuts with the horesepwer if you have a A4LD tranny , as they fry if you push them hard, as in significant power increases or lots of towing , anywhere you would get above average heat build up. I also installed a Derale tranny cooler that has a thermostaticlly controlled fan on it in an attempt to keep tranny cool. Good luck with your "Exploder"

I know but my intake and exhaust recommendations are good for any Explorer.
