sunroof problems help please

I just picked up 1993 EXPLORER XLT in great condition ...only has 88k miles on it. One problem is the sunroof ...it's the type that has a large round knob that you turn and a telescoping mechanism that raises the glass. Well mine is broken and I've tried several different searches on the net to no avail ....could anyone point me in the right direction to help me find the needed parts ?

You're probably going to have to find a pick-n-pull or some such.

Junk yard for sure. I'm still looking for similar parts for the shade receiver on the glass. I'll let you know if I find your needed parts in NC, Raleigh area.

eBay will have things from time to time. I lucked out and bought a complete new-old-stock sunroof still in the Ford box, that I installed in my brother's 94. You might be surprised what you'll find.

Maybe this can get you steered in the right direction for parts. Sunroof is a Mazda part not Ford. Used on many different models. Cars mostly had the electric ones and truck used the manual crank.

I had a '93 Sport with the same issue. First took it to the Ford dealership & they could not fix it. They sent me to a seat cover / convertible top specialist a couple of blocks down the street. After some attempts to fix the original sunroof with no luck, they recommended & installed an aftermarket sunroof.
In one way, I preferred the aftermarket sunroof. Instead of having to crank the knob a number of times to raise the sunroof, the replacement a a latching mechanism that a lot easier to operate.
