Eh, so I just got out of my '01 Dodge Ram 1500 QC and into an '04 Explorer.. It's a REALLY nice SUV, i'm liking it.. The only thing I miss is the off-roading capability of my truck.. mudding. :( The explorer has 4x4, but no clearence whatsoever and I hear they perform poorly off-road. Anyone wanna prove me wrong?

the third generation explorers have proved hard to lift. If you look around a bit you can see that the first and second Gneerations have proved somewhat easier too. Right now I think the only way to lift is with a body lift and then slap on some 33's.
BTW welcome to the site.

Welcome to the site. I'd like to hear the reasoning behind the user name - very odd

use a brick was an old joke between me and my friend a few years ago about an ex-gf.. basically "chloroform is for *******, you use a brick" anywho, on a more serious note, I am PISSED, this Ford just crapped out on me on the second day of me having it, I was driving to my girlfriends at 10 o'clock last night and was doin 30 through the city, the damn thing stalled completely and I had to pullover and shut it off for 15 minutes before I could restart it and shuffle my way on over to there and then back home 20 miles away. I had my Ram for a year and never had a single problem... for 2 mpg more and less off-roading capability, this thing is not worth it. I don't mean to come in here diss explorer's on the explorer forum, I am sure they're great vehicles, just not this one.

welcome, i was searching the web and found some adjustable coils for the 3rd gen, it says its for the 2wd, but it might work for the 4x4 i dont know, i try to say away from independent front and rear susp. but yea you could always put a body lift on it to fit some bigger tires, and 3rd gen explorers look sick with 33's!

the link for the coils
