I'm looking to supercharge my '06 limited, 4.0 & was wondering if anyone could provide any guidance. As far as, is it a good idea, would I need to change my tranny, brake system, what kind of horsepower I can expect, gas mileage, basically any & every thing you can tell me. I'm sure there's a thread here about it, & if so, someone please point me in the right direction...

Moddbox makes a bolt on that uses a thurnderbird turbo. You dont even have to buy a chip if you keep the boost under 5 lbs. http://modd.me/

I see they have edidted their specs. You need a tune at 3lbs now.

3lbs for a couple grand worth of work is not even close to being worth it.... rule of thumb that is only 33 hp.... if you really only wanted to add that little then a nitrous dry kit is the way to go and around $500 vs $2500

Without an intercooler it´s not wise to go beyond 5.5 psi but once you upgrade injectors and MAF and intercooler 9.5 psi should yield very good numbers. I personally decided more than a year ago to pass this upgrade and save this money to buy my next explorer. I find it extremely expensive, in several years you could get your hands on a 2.3 ecoboost or a V6 Ecoboost and with a good tune you can have a beast.

Just my 0.02

Thanks 4 the info guys. I'm about to drop another engine in my Expo & I really wanna play with it this time. I wanna supercharge it badly, but the more I look into it & research it, the more it seems a tune & a few parts will do what I'm looking 4. Great info & opinions though...
