Has anyone put a 'Superchip' in a 98' All wheel Drive mountineer? the 5.0L V8 version. Just checking to see if anyone has and what they thought of it.

Let me know if your using Premium or Regular fuel and why also.

Thanks Guys (and girls)

Matt

Matt, I had one in my 98 AWD Ex until I took it to the dealer for some work, and they did an upgrade to my ECM. This ended up changing my calibration code, and made my Superchip not work. I'm in the process of calling around to a few dealers to see who will read the code for me for the least amount of $$, so I can get the chip re-programmed. I definitely noticed a seat-of-the-pants improvement in HP. Didn't notice an MPG improvement worth mentioning. I ran Premium fuel with it because thats what the instructions called for. It seemed to be the concensus that a lower octane may cause pinging, due to the slight changes that the chip makes to the spark curve, etc. If you do a search on the site for "performance chip" or "superchip", you should come up with tons of info. Hope this helps.

That might be the next mod for me. I wonder if the Superchip or Diablo chip is making more power?
