Does anybody have a Superchip in thier 4.0 SOHC and did you see any change in performance after you installed it? I am looking into getting the chip as well as a few other goodies, but I am mostly interested in the chip's performance on the street. If anyone has one, I would love to see your comments about it's performance. Is it worth the money?

$250(plus super unleaded gas costs)
Adds: 22HP and 35 ft/lbs torque
stock is 205hp(don't know the torque off hand)

If you buy it from SmartyParts and represent on this grand website, you can get one for 175. A nice discount.

Very nice discount indeed.

Do you have one? If so, how does it run?

Please see my new post under modified explorations. Is your ECU code 'TTY3'?

I wanted to report that the Superchip I got from Chris at Smarty Parts works great. Chris at Smaty Parts was great and I would recommend him for anyone looking for a chip. I noticed a nice improvement in the performance after installing the chip. So far I have not noticed any draw backs from the chip, except for the higher cost of super unleaded. If you are looking for a low dollar/horsepower gain (and who isn't!) this is it. I also looked at the Jet chip, I even ordered it with their low temp thermostat. When they came in I noticed the thermostat was wrong for my engine and the chip seemed to be a universal one. They do not require the ECU codes to order a Jet chip. This made me very uneasy and so I returned both without installing them. Sorry so long, just my .02 worth.

Just put mine in Monday on my '97 SOHC 4x4. It makes a huge difference. Throughout the entire throttle range, it takes less throttle for the same acceleration. The shift points on the 5-speed automatic are greatly improved. They are quicker, firmer and the shift management has been greatly improved. Before when I was driving at 50MPH and I floored it, my transmission shifted into 4th, then 3rd, then finally settling for 2nd. It took a couple of seconds before it got to the right gear. Now it goes straight to 2nd. The upshift happens at 6500 RPM when flooring it. Mileage seems to be about the same, even with all of the extra full throttle starts but I haven't filled it up yet since putting it in though. It makes it a little more enjoyable to drive.
