Okay....I have to ask. I've noticed that quite a few fellow Explorer owners use Superlift 5.5" Suspension lift...are they any good? When I went to my local Off-road supply shop they warned me off the Superlift and advised that I use either Trailmaster or Skyjacker....I'm confused (not an unusual state for me as I'm just getting into this)

Does anyone have any advise for me?????

That shop might have wanted you to buy Trailmaster or Skyjacker because that was all they carried:)
I have the Trailmaster, and I've been happy. However, I think the popularity of the Superlift kit must speak for itself.

lift

this was exactly what I thought....if they're no good.....why would all these die hard Explorer freaks be putting them onto their rigs....I'm kinda thinking they were trying to sell the more expensive kit for more of a profit....

I put one on mine just because I didn't know anything was better... looking back I'd much rather spend a bit of extra money and get a solid front or even the skyjacker lift, rather then replacing superlift parts constantly adn at the worst times possible. check out the thread in modified explorations "can this be emergancy repaired?" Superlift has been on my crap list for a while now but I can't afford to redo it, so I'm just repairing things as they break...

I have the 5.5" Superlift on my Ex. and 4.5" on my Ranger. I prefer the Rancho kit. No problems at all. I've had some breakage with the Superlift. If I could do it again I would look at Camberg, Autofab or go to a solid front axle.

front axle

well, I thought I'd maybe try to swap in a solid front axle first too. I don't really like the setup right now. I think its really my only complaint. Any suggestions on what type of axle fits the best?

Let me guess - it's a jeep shop?

Are you planning on off-roading the truck?

If so, the superlift drop brackets are too weak for that. The main reasons most everyone here is running the superlift kit is because of the SOA rear, and cost. I preferred the SOA instead of 6inch curved springs that sag. (note - stock springs sag too, esp. on the sports)

If your looking for a cheap kit, I am selling my Superlift drop brackets - which have been modified to keep from breaking up. You'll have to get springs, dropped pitman, SOA kit for rear, and the drop kit for the radius arms (or buy extended radius arms from someone).

lift

Yes, I'm in BC and there is some killer off-road trails out here so I want a good solid lift kit. I don't want to have to repair it every six months.....
