Have a 2002 Sport Trac 4x2. Replacing the tires and the shocks. With the light back end, at times the steering is not firm especially on the highway.

Since I am doing the above, I was thinking about adding a rear sway bar and that led me to wonder if a kit from Explorer Express makes sense.

Here is the one I was considering: X-Spec suspension complete kit 2001 thru FEB2002 Sport Trac 2"

I hear the cost is somewhat higher. Is a kit like this or an alternative worth the extra cost?

Any alternatives or cautions to suggest? Thanks

Your truck already has a rear swaybar from the factory. The Explorer Express bar is bigger and will tighten it up some more. You can also get a larger front bar from ADDCO.
The stock shocks are way too soft even when new. I'd say change those first then see if you need more and if so, then add the new swaybars. Also try MOOG front swaybar end links (on the stock bar), a lot of people report they stiffen it up nicely because they give less than the stockers.

+1 on what JohnnyO said.

Thanks JohnnyO.

I will start with the shocks and MOOG front sway bar end links and see how that feels.

Any recommendations on best shocks for my truck?

Monroe Air Max adjustable air shocks. These are one of the best mods I've done since buying my truck. They allow you to set the stiffness of the ride and can also level out the truck under heavy loads. No more expensive than regular shocks either.

On a side note.... Anyone know if you can get air adjustable shock on the front end?
