The rear driver side suspension is lower by 1" than the rear right side. The sag is measured from the top of the tire to the wheelwell fender.

I have 37K highway miles, no heavy loads and the leaf springs visually look good. The original rear shocks were replaced this weekend but made no difference other than better handling.

Any ideas how I can correct this?

kinda but not really.... ford decided to put the gas tank on the left and just gas tank and driver make the car 400 lbs heavier on that side..... 150 #s gas and then driver {i am 250 so thats how i figure 400}

One thing I am considering is to have a wedge made to put into my leaf pack for just the driver's side. It should compensate well. Just have to get it done. Another option is to twist the front torsion bar. This is what many on the site do. Another option I've considered is to get a set of Hellwig Leaf Helper Springs and just put the helper spring on the driver's side only. It's ok to stiffen up the one side because it has more weight for compression. It should actually even out the compression. Hope this helps and let us know what you end up doing.

Don't you think a Hellwig on One side would look funny ? I do , but it's not my X , just my 2 cents ...

HEY! you *could* swap the spring leaves from left to right and from right to left... that would eventually even everything out.

actually, i think some vehicles actually sit a little crooked from the factory to compensate for the crown on the road.

NoBoundaries: My 93 suspension is different from your 96, but I had knowledgeable person to suggest putting a steel 1'2 inch shim in bottom or top the leaf pack to correct the left side sag, but can't remember where he said to put it. I too, have been thinking of Hellwig helper springs, particular the progressive model since I tow, and put more tension the left one, thus increasing left spring tension. On 93 2wd, only the back helpers will fit. There is a clearance problem with the front helpers on 93 2wd models, according to the manufacturer. Mike

The shim is probably what I'm going to do, just have to find a shop to do it or find someone on the site who found a shop and had it done to pass their info on to me. The rear end suspension on all 1991-2001 X's are the same and we all seem to have this same problem. It would be nice if someone can get a place to make a bunch of them for us. Hopefully I'll find a place that can get it done.

What would the dimensions of the shim need to be? Also could it just be a piece of flat stock?
