Might sound crazy...but has anyone ever tried to put struts on in place of their shocks? If so, has anyone found a model that fits without modification?

Just thinking it could help me keep off my bump stops. The older my explorer gets the more it sags and the ride is terrible.

Not sure how they affect the ex, but on the vw baja's they suck. The ride is way stiff with both the springs and the stock suspension together.

I just feel like my front end needs more support. It's like the torsion bars are just worn slap out. My bump stops hit on even the smallest of bumps in the road.

have you tried adjusting the torsion bars at all?

The only thing I've done is played around with raising and lowering them but it doesn't seem to do much.

Are you sure it's the bump stops hitting and not the sway bar knocking? I would think if your torsion bars were shot that the front end would be sitting pretty low.

i'm sure. I've got MAYBE 3/4" between the bump stops and the lower arm. and there's an imprint on the lower arm where you can see they're hitting there all the time.
