swaped servos, band won't tighten...

Hey guys, working on my 2002 explorer. I bought the set of servos with the machined grooves & O-rings. Got'em installed but my int. band won't tighten. A local tranny guy said my anchor may have dropped into the pan. If that's the case, can I retrieve it & put it back w/o pulling the tranny. I don't wanna waste my time if it can't be done. Thanks

It is possible that the anchor fell out, if it's the adjuster side, you can get to it with the trans in, if it's the servo side then no. It is also possible that you band is broken, it was very common for that year to snap the anchor plate off of the band assy, you will also have to pull the trans to fix that, and it will probably need a drum also.
