I bought 2 of the sway bar link rebuilding kits and rebushed both sides.

One thing I noticed is that the old bushings had the metal tube bonded to the rubber of the bushing, so that when everything was bolted in, bending any part of the linkage had sort of a spring back action.

The new bushings are 2 peices plus the metal bolt tube, and instead of having that nice spring back action, the linkage just moves smoothly and has no spring back action.

Did I do something wrong here?

Did you torque it down? Mine did that until I got it tight enough. I personally think the old design is flawed, holds the moisture at the top of the bolt and it'll just rust and shear off, that's what one of mine did.

Luckily my truck it rust free so a little antiseize got the bolts off fine.

It seems to be correctly reassembled, just the old on had a spring back like action to them.

Theyre torqued nice and tight.
