A friend told me that I should get a fatter sway bar for the rear to make my Ex hold the road better. Is this true? What is a sway bar and what does it do? How much does it cost? Where do I get it? Whats involved in putting it on?

NOTE Please: this was posted by my young cousin under my name.

Explorer Express Bar.

I've got the Explorer Express rear sway bar. First off, it's massive; easily double the thickness of the original. It works great. It really does help the X stick to the road. Most body roll is gone (not all though, remember, it IS an SUV). One thing though, it limits the independent movement of the shocks, so it effectively limits shock travel. It will make your X run a little stiffer. If you don't mind that, then go for it. I think it's 100% worth it.

Urethane bushings

I kept the skinny stock bar and replaced only the huge rubber bushings with urethane where the bar meets the axle. I left the Sway bar end linkages with the stock rubber bushings and still, huge, HUGE difference in limiting body roll. Minimal effect on shock action. JK
