I installed the 2010 ford navigation system in my for $1000 getting a custom wiring created for $250 from guy that builds sync harnesses for the f-250. This harness doesnt connect the vehicle harness connects to directly to the radio and dash harness behind the radio. The amp is costing me 75 and the sync module 80. $1405 altogether to fully equip a 2006 explorer with sync. I decided to get the harness with an external microphone plug, so that saved me money on replacing the mirror and headliner harness.

The part number I used for the nav is AL2T-18K931-AC...$1000
Sync harness is made custom by expert in this field...$250

Just the hard part I dont know where to mount the sync module and amp, when i was looking at other ford vehicle consoles they had it mounted under the console.

harness just came in mail today so i just need to start putting everything together

I installed the sync steering wheel controls yesterday and everything is working perfectly. Also just installed the sync mirror today but not sure how to test yet?

Where are you located? Just curious where you can get this kinda electronics work done.

I am located in hawaii, i order all these parts from another salvage 2010 explorer that had the nav system inside, just having a hard time finding the right sync module cause some are made for just navigation unit but i had a friend of mines told me it doesnt matter which sync module you use...the guy I was suppose to buy the sync module lost it some place in the salvage yard

The electronic work I do myself and follow the ford schematic and I just found out you can replace your 7-pin mirror with a 10 sync mirror you just dont get 2009 or 2010 the compass harness built in the mirror and the compass wont display in the odometer. The 2008 explorers with sync mirrors still have the external compass box behind the mirror. And harness price various depending what type of overhead console you got, of people with or without the a/c overhead controls will cost about 20-80 dollars from fordparts.com for 10-pin mirror harness and with homelink its about 500 for the harness, i am guessing cause they dont sell the harnes without the homelink equipment

Everything is plug and play no cutting or nothing
1. Order the amp and amp harness from united radio $250 for the kit
2. Dash harness from explorer, i was suppose to get the sync module and amp with this price but the guy lost and never refunded me the cost for the sync module and amp which i suppose pay $200 for the dash harness not $285
3. Sync mirror and steering wheel control harness $200
4. Nav Unit $1000
5. Sync module i found some online for 50-200 dollars so i am being patient tell i find a good deal on that...trying to get the 2010 with 911 asist

sync module and 54-pin sync harness coming in the mail so i will have pictures posted...I will create a new thread for the picture post once its completed by next week
