i dont know if that would hurt it but on a 97 the front axles are allways turning because they have no hubs so if they did go out you would be able to hear the joints in 2wd if I am correct

I would leave hers alone completely. First, there's a chance you could screw something up by lifting it too far. Second, do you think your mom WANTS to drive a lifted Explorer and do you want her to? My mom can barely drive her stock J**p Grand Cherokee. I would hate to think of how she would drive if it was lifted! (no offense to moms intended)
I think you can manage to get by with driving a stock Explorer for a little while. It will also make you appreciate your lifted one even more when you get it back.

You can't go more than 2" with the torsion bars, it'll stop right at about 2" if you can even get it that high.

I did the torsion twist yesterday and I left about a thread showing on the left and a couple of threads on the right. That should be ok right? It only gave me about a 1.5 lift.
the only problem is that when measuring the lift the left side is about 1/4" shorter than the right. Is it ok to leave it like that? I don't want to touch it anymore because I got the right height i wanted. Or would it cause a problem in the long run?
