Want to start by saying: thanks to all for the useful information and tip's posted on this site. this is my first time here and i found out about this site after a dazzling 3 months, where no one were able to find out from where is the thumping sound coming from , on my 97 limited Explorer.
Finally today the FORD dealer guessed it was coming from the T-case (magnetic clutch is acting up). estimated 4,000.00 parts + 4 Hours labor + tax = problem solved, what the F***. is that realistic?
let get back few week. I disconnected the power to the T-case and took it for a drive test, still thumping. Then I removed the shaft that connects the T-case with the front axel, still thumping.
the sound is like smacking metal against metal with a kick feeling to it, it mostly occurs when accelerating or going up hills basically putting some pressure on the engine.
Long story short, does any one know what type of T-case installed on my car as I couldn’t find the part # nor any tags there??????
Thanks for your help in advance guys and I really enjoyed the useful information posted here.
