- 1999 explorer xlt 4wd
I have a 1999 explorer xlt eddie bauer. I did the brown wire mod and now 4 wd only works when i move switch to 4h. However sometimes when i crank it up i hear some clicking noises, plus it will move forward a tad. After all this stops i will move the shift lever to drive and sometimes the t case grinds. When it does i quickly move lever to park and then back to drive and all is well. I use 4wd alot and it works fine. I have two questions.1. Why is it grinding?
2. Is there any way to just get rid of the auto 4wd feature alltogether?
