I have a 2002 xlt 4x4. I started feeling like I was hitting little bumps in the road on deceleration from high speeds. So the "technician" was confused by it and had to spend extra time. Well after spending 190 bucks at the dealer to diagnose the problem, they ask for another 95 dollars to officially find what is going on. So for 190 this is all I got from the dealer. This typed paragraph.

"Trans diag and pass inspect drive shaft and u joints pass. Inspect t case pass. DTS connect drive shaft and drove. RD test, Fail reconnect driveshaft and disconnect t case motor connector pass problem lies in the t case."

So before I go in debt any farther before they even buy a part does anyone have an Idea what he is talking about. And could I replace the part myself. They mentioned that he thinks it is one of the modulators in the t case and when it was disconnected the problem appeared to go away.

thanks, Kyal

From the (short) description you gave, it sounds like the 4wd is kicking in (perhaps a speed sensor going bad). Try disconnecting the transfer case's electrical connector(s). If the problem goes away, then its the vehicle engaging 4wd when its not supposed to.

4 wd

Well I havent had time to disconnect the wires but I did try engaging 4wd High and the problem does go away. I wont be able to work on it until I get home from thanksgiving so more later. But now what since I do believe that it has to deal with the 4wd trying to engage.

thanks for the help. Already you guys have been more helpful the dealers.
