I'm baaaaaack!!!! The last time I posted, I was having a problem with my Tach going to ZERO and within a few minutes, the engine bogged way down and the check engine light came on. We put new plugs/wires and WOW! What a difference. My Explorer couldn't have ran any better! Too bad it only lasted 2 weeks. :( Yes, it started all over again. We ended up putting a new ICM, Coil pack, ECC.....nothing is helping! We got a code reader at Wally World and the only code that keeps coming up is 212 & 213. I had it at a garage and the "mechanic" (HA) said there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with my vehicle! He checked the SPOUT and said he seen nothing wrong. He was the one who suggested the new ECC.....didn't help. Could it be a bad Tach????? Would it make my engine bog down like it is? It runs great when it's cool but after running about 30 minutes....all he** breaks loose! Any more suggestions out there?????

The tach will not cause anything to happen. What are those two codes exactly?

Tach...

I'm not sure what the EXACT wording was for the codes 212 and 213. My boyfriend isn't here to ask! But I know both 212 and 213 has something to do with the SPOUT. ?? We got a 212 and the garage I took it to got a 213. (Spout connector grounded?)

Thought i'd save you some agervation. Here's what my Haynes manuel says.

Code: 212 Test Condition: C*
Probable Cause:
Ignition module circuit failure/SPOUT circuit grounded

Code: 213 Test Condtion: R*
Probable Cause:
SPOUT circuit open

Test Conditions:
C == Continuous Memory
R == Engine Running

Hope that helps!

I have both Haynes & Chilton manuals! I know WHAT the codes are but I don't know how to fix the problem!! haha But why would those codes come up with a NEW ICM?

Did you try replacing the ingnition module?? It's not the ECM, but a separate item. They do go bad....

sounds like either the SPOUT is shot, or the wiring for it is shot somewhere, with those codes anyway.
