This is a '93 Ex 2WD with pushrod V6 and A4LD.

The ProStart 2300 calls for a "tach wire" to be tapped. I located a tan/yellow wire underdash that puts out AC current as it's supposed to, but the voltage is under spec and doesn't seem to be enough to interrupt the start circuit.

Unfortunately this seems to be the only tach wire under the dash, according to the Haynes manuals.

The alternative instructions ("Tach Learning System," PDF p. 3) call for tapping the fuel-injector wire, which is among the "wires off the fuel injector.... Use the wire opposite of the common wire."

I'm at a loss to locate that wire.

Can someone help?

(I asked the dealer for tech help, but they're cold to supporting a second installation unless you buy another unit. Seriously.)

I got my Tach wire from the instrument cluster. This was a while ago as I don't remember the color of the wire.

I hope this can help you out.

Yup, that's the wire (tan/yellow). I tried to get the device to pick up on its signal, but it wouldn't interrupt the starter circuit.

Maybe I was exhausted after all the wiring and didn't do the procedure correctly.

I'll try again.

normally with a remote starter you put i on a ingition wire.

im not sure which one, and the tach is hooked up to the iginition.

you should be able to find a wire to tap into thats adaquite enough.

It's gotta be connected to the tach wire so it doesn't keep trying to start. The tach wire is at the ECU as well as the coil.

If you have a tach in your cluster then you can hook it up there. There is obviously a tach signal going to the gauge.
