I am making a set of custom taillights for my 94 and have a question for you 95 and up owners. Can you tell me if the bulb socket for the rear turn signal and the rear brake light are the same. In other words, in theory, could you reverse the sockets from top to bottom and both would still fit properly. I'm trying to determine what parts I need to finish the project. Thanks in advance.

yes, you could do that. Its a standard twist in 3157 socket, technically, if the wires were long enough, you could go so far as to even put any of the 3 bulbs in any of the 3 sockets on the lense. I do beleive however they have to be located in the general area that they are stock to be inserted w/o needing a wire exentsion.

Good luck and we'd LOVE to see your project when its done :)

Thanks for the info. And I will certainly let everyone in, as soon as I get a little closer to the end of the project.

I've been looking for a taillight alternative, you think you might be selling these things if they turn out well? :)

After as much planning and work I've put into these things? Not a chance......Well, maybe, everything has a price. hehe. But seriously, doubt it. But I will certainly post how I did everything after its finished. Searching for some cheap sockets and busted newer taillights right now. Let me know if you see anyone with some to get rid of. If I'm happy with the results, I might make a few for others.

irony.. about 3 or 4 years ago I could have helped you out with that heh my mom backed into their towncar with my mounty and broke my passenger side taillight lense out. It would probablly been perfect, sorry, the body shop trashed the lense when they fixed it :(

you may want to try junkyards, usually they too trash broken lenses, an organized one anyway. But you never know, they may sell you good ones for like $5 and you could break them yourself :)

I had an idea to make an altezza style light using a lense back (remove the colored part with a dremel) and then put some sort of 3 ovals of red/white for the brakes, but that proved to be alittle expensive and impractical for me. Is this something similar? I also had an idea to take a standard clear taillight, bore out the rear of the lense where the bulbs fit in and fill the lenses with LED arrays, this too proved more costly than worth it.

Can't tell my secret yet. Don't want to jinx the project. I let too much information out, and I'll end up messing it up.:D

awww!! maaaaan lol, ok, well, good luck to you
