I took my egr off and whoever did the job before me stripped the hell out of the back bolt on the right side. Well after cleaning it to the best of my ability and putting it back together ( took over 5 hours to get the bolts back in and bought new bolts and still stripped that back bolt) I started up the X and now I have a tapping/pinging noise coming out of the engine. It sounds like a lifter ticking but it wasn't doing that before. Every now and then it would when I first started up when it was cold outside or the truck has been sitting there for a few days and I drive my camaro. But I drove it to work tonight and it wasn't doing it when I got to work but for a good three or four miles it did. And when it has done it in the past it only lasted a few seconds. Any ideas? Oh and I am still throwing codes for the egr. I am going to replace my dpfe sensor this weekend. And possibly the egr itself with a new one. Anything else I should tackle. Well actually if I replace the egr I am letting someone else do it. I am not messing with that bolt again. Hopefully it can be rethread.

just an update I was standing behind my truck today and I noticed there is a carb cleaner smell coming out of my exhaust is that normal. Cause that is what I used to clean the EGR

Uh...its not normal to sniff exhaust fumes!

Just kidding! I have been trying to get to my egr valve as well, things have just been stopping me from working on it lately. I bought a 1 1/16" wrench to remove the valve and clean it out, but if it is as tough as you say it is, I dunno if I want to tackle it! I prolly will though! The cleaner smell will dissipate soon enough. the ticking noise might be a leak, from the stripped out bolt.
