I was trying to keep a new post/thread from opening up, but I couldn't get the PM to go through for Glacier991. I figured, and hoped that by opening up a new thread I could get the help that I'm looking for. Admins, I apologize if this violates some of your forum rules, but I'm in kind of a bind here.

Glacier991, I want to apologize for personally PM'ing you, but through my research thus far, you seem to be the resident expert on the Ranger AutoTrans. My g/f 97 ranger threw a code and was 'bucking' the other day. She is now driving my Taurus around town. I'm not sure what the model of the transmission is on the Ranger but I do know that the engine is the V6 OHV vulcan engine. I know that it is only a 2WD truck. There seems to be limited options on what transmissions that were placed in to the Rangers batck at this time.
The code that I pulled was the P1744 which according to previous posts that you've made speaks to the TCC Solenoid malfunctioning. My question is, do you have a procedure on how to replace it? If the part is cheap enough and the procedure is pretty straight forward, then I can do this myself. I've done my own Tranny Oil Changes on my bull for a few years now. I'm not an expert by any means but can get the job done.
I'd like to try and replace the TCC solenoid (I'd be open to suggestions for any other solenoids while I'm at it) to see if the hard shifts and bucking and CEL go away.
