Well the saga still continues with my tranny.I can't believe that a problem so consistant as this can't be narrowed down to find a fault,butttt......

Anyway I decided to tear down my old tranny to see if I could see what failed.I found it to be very clean with absolutley no debris. No bad bearings,no torn up thrust washers,no burnt bands,no shavings or fillings at all.I'm thinking that I must have had a solenoid failure or something in the valve body, which I haven't taken apart yet,I need a torx bit.

I do have a few questions though, like how do I get the plug connector for the solenoids out of the case.I am at the point of getting the output end out and I assume that the output shaft is a press fit or at least a press is needed to get it out of the case.I am looking at the last planetary, which is where I have stopped for today.

I am looking forward to rebuilding this tranny,I think that it is a good unit to cut my teeth on,it should be fun.

What should I buy for a rebuild kit? Thanks Ron

PM Me and I can set you up with a reasonable priced rebuild kit.

The output shaft is retained by a retaining ring, exactly like in the A4LD.

The case connector has a retaining clip holding it in place.

That rear section of the transmission usually has a lot of wear. On the A4LD there were 2 kinds of snap rings that could fit onto that rear shaft. That was always a tricky part trying to hold the shaft, circlip, and rear sprag at the same time. Check to make sure that it only turns in one direction. Be extra careful with that plastic case connector. They have been known to break from excessive force. Spray out the transmission cooler, and lines before reinstalling the transmission. Did you have your harness checked out? I remember all of the electrical problems you were having.

I haven't been able to do the breakout box thing yet but I did completely disconnect and checked each wire for continuity with no issues found. However I ran across something that gave me a fit.It has to do with the vt/og wire, circuit 315 pins 1 and 14 which are in the main circuit from the computer to the tranny, and the vt/og wire, circuit 298, pin 9 which is from the computer to the DTR sensor.I assumed that there would be continuity between the two circuits because the wires are the same color code but that isn't how it tested out for me.I don't think my issue is wiring anyway.I believe that I have a solenoid issue, something not holding pressure from blowby or just a weak unit.It is just too consistant, but not constant to be a short.I noticed today that when the O/D light just started flashing I heard a click which I hadn't heard before, probably because the windows were always up.The click was very like a solenoid stroking.

My next move is going to be a pressure guage.
