witch cam?

id start with the tech line at Comp Cams, have fun let us know buck

Well i can tell you they only make two cams,410&422
410 uses stock springs
422 uses 988 dual spring and the head needs to be machined to fit
Both use 5.550 pushrods

the 270 is the 422 cam.you need 988 dual springs, machined head to fit and 5.550 pushrods

If you like low end torque, get the 410.

If you like low end torque, get the 410.

i dont know why people say this.there is only a 400 rpm difference when these cams start making power.410 starts at 800 rpms and 422 is 1200rpms.that is so minor that it makes no difference at all.my truck doesnt even start moving till about 1000.i have had both and can guarantee you can not tell the difference in when the cams power comes in but the 422 makes WAY more power and is the same price.you will not be driving or towing anything under 1200 rpms when you need power anyways, ill take the extra hosepower that the 422 gives than the 400 rpm earlier of 410.also thats just when they make power, the 422 still will make more power at 800rpms and all the way to redline than the 410 so why have a cam that has less power that comes in earlier and falls off higher in rpms?422 is the only way to go,410 is a waste of money when you can get the 422 for same price

I called comp cams they were no help so I greatly appciate you guys answering me but I have one more question for the 422 cam on the pushrods why do I have to machine my heads for them to fit are they a larger diameter ?

Also they said I need a computer tune would a jet chip work or would I have to get a custom chip seeing as mine is OBD1

they are machined for the dual springs to fit not pushrods

you dont need a tune, yes it would help but not mandatory

I suggest SI stainless steel one piece valves also.they flow better for one and stock is two pieces and with the extra strength of the 988 they can snap in half and the valve heads falls into the cylinder.worth the price for extra flow and safety feeling;)

You still using stock heads? 94is a weak head and tend to crack.if you do replace them i suggest 95tm heads.it will increase compression a point,10:1 more power;) also make sure you soak and take apart and clean the crap out of your lifters if you reuse them.dont forget to get new head bolts they are NOT reusable! !
