I just bought a 1995 Explorer Sport. The dash temp guage wasn't working. I drove a few hundred miles, and it runs great!!

I had the temp guage and gas guage replaced (they come as a set).

Now my temp is running HOT - like almost straight up on the dial.

OK, so I thought maybe my thermostat was clogged or bad. I replaced that with a 195 degree unit last night, along with coolant.

Still runs really HOT...guage is pointing stright up on the dial....If I run heater, it cools down a WEE bit....

I have owned 4-5 fords....seemed like they always would run at about 1/4 temp....

Thoughts..??

Thanks :exp:

Do you have any other way to check the temp? I know some multimeters come with a temp setting. Sounds like the gauge isn't hooked up correctly, always reading hot. does it gradually go to there or just shoot right to hot ?

have your coolant system flushed
