So I accidentally ended up in South East D.C. and someone attempted to open my door in a very frantic manner out of nowhere, pulling the door handle really fast multiple times when I was at a red light. It was too dark to tell what was going on but all I saw was a figure with a white hat and a black jacket and I floored it, ran the red light and got the hell out of there. Autolock has to be the best safet feature ever...

I wish there was a way to reenable it on the Interceptors, I've worried about this a few times, especially since the NYPD incident where someone hopped in the back of an unmarked earlier this year.

Since this is normally a driver selectable option, perhaps it can be set up again by the use of the IDS tool (laptop) hooked into the OBD port. if it has been removed in the Interceptors.

Fellow DMV resident here. Be careful out there in SE man. Things have gotten better but there's still desperate folks out there. Glad you're ok.

You guys have stealth mode or surveillance mode on the interceptors correct? Or does it not operate when the vehicle is in motion?

I thought there was a feature that would auto lock the doors/roll up windows if someone approached from the rear on the UI?

How about taking all the gun loving/hating to another thread in an appropriate area of the forum?

It has nothing to do with this thread.

In my cars without autolock I pretty much locked my doors 100% of the time the moment I started the car. So, yes...very good feature.

I was hoping that the thread would get back on track in discussing the Autolock feature and the safety it provided but it seems that the conversation on the pros and cons of carrying weapons was starting to dominate the thread. This is a Ford Explorer forum, not a platform for the Pros and Cons of carrying guns. Please try to stay on topic. Thank you.

Yeah, it's so bad the police don't even want to go there.

Those are an added module, and require the truck to be in park. Dark Car is just a disable of the interior lights and parking lights when the doors are unlocked and/or opened. There is no option in the dash computer to reenable autolocks, I've looked a few times to make sure.

Correct the PIs don't have autolock....they should but don't.

I have added to the instrument cluster options but it only works until the vehicle has been shut off for about 15 mins. I think its the BCM time out, so either there is a secondary function that must be enabled or the software in the police vehicles just don't support it.

Surveillance mode is an optional feature through the purchase of a Police Interface Module made by InterMotive in California. Using the back up sensors it will lock doors, activate rear view camera, and roll up windows when a subject approaches.

Its an add on feature to the Interceptor, not a stock feature.

Now Ford will install it for you at Chicago Mod Center but before it had to be installed by your shop.
