Hi again,

I would just like to say I am thankful to have found this website, it has answered many questions, as I am NOT a mechanic. So bear with me on some of these questions if they seem, "silly".

Okay, so....

Question,
Sometimes, not EVERY time, but sometimes when I shift my auto trans 2000 ford explorer xlt SOHC into reverse, it SLAMS into reverse. Very loud and unsettling. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? The transmission shifts fine for the cars age. Trying to preserve her for as long as I can, or at least until I'm done with nursing school. Help! lol.

Bewitched,

Yep, awesome Forum!!!

Seems to me your answer could be transmission, transfer case, differential, or even u-joints. But I really do not know have any great ideas. Intermittent problems can be tough.

Advice: Probably should check fluids on transmission and differentials and transfer case. Then, keep driving it! This will either get you through nursing school... or become much easier to diagnose.

Good luck.
