I am sorry to go, but my Explorer is aging and needed to be replaced. I got a half-decent deal on a trade in towards a J__P Grand Cherokee and couldn't say no to the 1.9% financing. If only I liked the 2002 Ex better and they had better financing.....Unfortunately, the Jeep forums are pretty weak compared to this one!

but, thanks to everyone here for helping me get the most out of my Explorer. Maybe in a few years I'll be back.

sorry to see you go.... by..... hopefully the jeep rearend will hold up....

As an ex Grand Cherokee owner, I have to say good luck. There is a great website http://www.jeepsunlimited.com like this site with TONS of helpful owners like the ones here on this Xplorer site.
Im sure they welcome you to the family.
The code name, just so you know for the new (99-02) Grands is WJ.

I was very displease with the build quality of my 1994 V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but it was and still is the Best off road vehicle Ive ever driven 4 wheel coil sprung suspension is great off road for flex and high speed running across the desert(which I like to do)

Have fun with your new toy. I had poor luck with Chrysler /Jeep, and Dodge dealer service as well. They could never fix it correctly the first time.

Thanks for the well wishes. I have to get used to the feel of the Grand, but so far I really like it alot.

I know alot of people have had problems with Jeeps but the same can be said for Explorers (or any american made vehicles!). I had plenty of issues with my Ex, but I still will miss it. Like I said maybe in a few years the Ex will become something really awesome and I'll come back.

I'll keep checking in from time to time just out of curiousity though...so don't say anything bad about me!

Mine (well not mine but close - I got the chrome wheel package):

a '97 is "aging"?... how many miles did you have on it?

Congrats on your new Jeep. I love them and as soon as I get out of college I plan on leasing a new Jeep grand cherokee with the appearance group package. Ohhh I can see it now.

Congrats on the purchase Tim, and dont think that just because you no longer have an Explorer means you arent welcome here because you are.

An Explorations member is always an Explorations member, regardless of what he or she is exploring in ;)

Take care.

93,000 miles.....and I think the tranny was going, there was alot of engine noise and vibration...and I was worried about the driveshaft as well. Not to mention the fact that there was alot of seepage....oil, tranny fluid, coolant.....you name it, it was leaking. So it had to go. And 1.9% APR is pretty close to free money.

1.9% APR, I would've got one too! I don't blame you for not getting the 02' I don't like it anymore, I did at first but the more I see it the more I hate it. Good luck with the new toy...

Gee I guess the financing has changed a lot since I bought my 98. The APR for a 2yr loan in Aug 98 was 0.9% thru Ford. Is the 1.9% for a 5yr loan?

I was going to say... I just bought a 97 EB in February. But I agree that the 1.9% is a great rate.
