1999 Ford Explorer Sport
A woman of a certain age here, who wishes she was a mechanic! My beloved 1999 Explorer Sport 2dr has begun letting me down after 175,000 miles. I have been looking at vehicles for almost 2 years and cannot find anything even close--not even with huge concessions! Guess none of the auto manufacturers believe some of us actually want a Sport Utility Vehicle not a Suburban Utility Vehicle! :(

Welcome. Do you have a pic of your 99 Sport?.

A lot of us completely understand your frustration with neutered SUVs. ;)

Welcome to this forum! I feel the same way about the new minivans. They are front wheel drive, have less headroom, a suspension system like a sedan, and feel more like a car than a truck. Try to replace a belt or a tensioner on one of those cramped engines under the hood, and you'll see what I'm talking about. The new SUVs are following the same path. They aren't designed to go off road, and don't have too many aftermarket performance upgrades.
