- 1998 Ford Explorer Sport
I just bought a '98 explorer that was stuck in 4 Low. Trailered it home and swapped the shift motor. Under $1200 and 30 minutes of labor for a Sport with a rebuilt tranny and engine (within last two years). The cab is rusted but I am gonna give her the old Ridge Runner fix of Great Stuff, paint on bedliner and color matched touch-up paint.
I would not suggest doing this all the time as I could have gotten burned on any number if issues with this truck but I had a similar experience with the Thunderbird forums (TCCOA) by buying a car with "bad" computer and injector rails. I pulled the MAF and cleaned it with a q-tip...zoom-zoom.
This forum as a repair resource alone is with it's weight in gold!
Thanks, again.
