The "Bunny" VS. 91 EXP Tranny

My 91 Exp had a tranny leak and was ran completely dry of trans fluid. I had the truck towed home and dropped the pan and put in a new filter and 5-6 qts of fluid. Low and behold the tranny is working fine, it shifts good thru all gears and does not slip at all, cold or hot starts. I did find metal particals in the filter I took out. Is the tranny in need of a change out or is it possible a rebuild could be done or should I just drive it and see if it will out last the "Bunny"? The trans has been rebuilt previously and I don't know how many miles are on it. Thx for any comments.

The front seals blowing out on these transmissions are common. You said that you don't know how long ago it was rebuilt, but do you know approximately how long ago it was?
