We were shopping for our new Explorer, when a State Police Explorer (PIU) came from the other direction. My wife noticed the "I-N-T-E-R-C-E-P-T-O-R" across the hood and commented: "Why would anyone want to drive an "EXPLORER" when they could drive an "INTERCEPTOR"??? I want mine to be an INTERCEPTOR!"
Anything to please, I "converted" our new 2019 Sport to an INTERCEPTOR. Plus running boards and black lug nuts. She's happy, and when Mama's happy, the whole house is happy!

Walt, welcome to the forum. Nice looking Explorer. Where are you in NJ?.

Thanks Mike. We traded up from a 2016 Edge, and really like the Explorer so far.
I'm in Sergeantsville (west of Flemington), but the grandkids are in Manasquan, so I'm over on your side of the state a lot.

Looks great! What exactly did you do to covert it into an interceptor? Excuse my ignorance, new 2019 Sport owner myself.

Thanks. The "conversion" is a little tongue-in-cheek. Cosmetic changes only; sort of a "sheep in wolf's clothing". I replaced the "E-X-P-L-O-R-E-R" on the hood with "I-N-T-E-R-C-E-P-T-O-R''. I also rebadged the tailgate, replacing the "SPORT" and "ECOBOOST" badges with "POLICE INTERCEPTOR" and "3.5L TWIN TURBO" badges in the style used on Ford's actual Police Interceptors. It's all relatively discreet. Most people don't notice. It's more of an inside joke. The new badging was all from ebay.

Oh right on, all I had to do was zoom in on the pic, haha. Looks good, I like the 3.5L TWIN TURBO badge!
