OK...First of all....Good to be part of the forum and thank you in advance for any help you might have to offer. So here's the deal...

2005 Ford Explorer

Problem #1:

The truck has a low idle speed that I can not figure out. When sitting at idle is shakes to a point that it will wake my kids in the back seat. I noticed a break in the throttle body so I replaced the entire thing...still no luck. I have also searched for vacuum leaks and I have not seen anything yet. Is there something that I am missing? Is there a way to control the idle? Other that than the vehicle runs fine.

Problem #2:

The rear A/C vents on the back of the center console dont work. It sounds like there is a rear barn door that opens when you hit the rear switch but still no air. Any suggestions? I am a little reluctant to see if there is a problem in the center console until I hear back on this. I know that GM decided in 2005 that they were going to put an airbag sensor in the center console. If you tip it then it thinks that you rolled your vehicle and deploys your airbags!! Incase you were wondering....I know this because I did it to my 2006 Tahoe while installing a sound system.....pissed off was an understatement!!

Anyway...thanks again if anyone can help!!!

Have you checked to see if your IAC is plugged in? I know on my '03 when I unplugged it, it did the same exact thing, and only did it at idle.

For the rear vents, the trip bracket may be unhooked somehow, but I'm not 100% sure about how the Gen III's are hooked up. GM really put an airbag sensor in the console? That must be a side airbag thing?

Welcome to the forum!

2005 doesn't have an IAC motor. The electronic throttle body just positions the throttle blade to control the idle speed.

It's possible that it just needs to re-learn its idle. Disconnect the battery for an hour or so, then see what happens.

If it's found that no vacuum leaks are present, it might need to have the PCM re-flashed with an updated program.

Are you getting any lights on the dash? "Service Engine Soon" or that little wrench light?
The engine might be misfiring, which could be solved with a simple tune-up.

Try cleaning the MAF sensor (located in the airbox lid) with some spray cleaner. They make a product specifically for this task. I know sometimes when people use an oiled cotton gauze air filter such as a K&N, the oil vapors stick to the MAF sensor wires, and cause inaccurate readings.
