theft light!!??!!??

today when I started my ex up, a yellow THEFT light in the dash next to the speedometer lit up for about 30 seconds, I have never seen or heard of this, anyone have any info about this?

PATS = Passive Anti Theft System

My light is red. When the vehicle is sitting parked it flashes every few seconds. If I use an unchipped key to turn the ignition over it starts flashing very rapidly and the vehicle will not start. When I use the chiped key it lights up solid along with all the idiot lights and then goes out.

I realize we have a slightly different system being that yours is an early model 2nd gen and mine is late model second gen, but I believe PATS works the same. Just a different colored light

mine did that once leaving walmart it only happened that one time. prehaps someone with a key fob on the same freq but sending the wrong code was by me, not sure. never did it again so i didn't worry about it.

The key fob would not do that. Eather the PATS system did not pick up your key or if you have one of those Mobil SpeedPass tags on your key chain the pats system may have been picking up that instead of the key. The SpeedPass and the chip in the key are the same technology and will interfear with each other. I can wave my key at a SpeedPass pump and it will pick it up and say invalid speedpass.
